I fished it last week and the fishing was pretty poor. We caught a few fish but nothing to write home about. I think the weather (cold front the day before, thunderstorm while on the water) had more to do with it than the algae though.

Hey Dave, I was there about 10 days ago and didn't notice any yellowish brown tint, but I wasn't looking for that. I took some pics, I'll go through them and check the water color.

Sorry it took so long. This pic was taken not far from downstream of the Hwy 16 Bridge at about 10:30 a.m. a couple of weeks ago. all my other pics from that trip were taken much further downstream; so I don't know if they'd be relevant.

That's somewhere in Flint Bend. At that point they hadn't opened the gate and it was about 180cfs.

Fishing wasn't very good. Nice paddling though, with the water up. The little pipe rapid at about mile 19 had enough water where you could take a line far to the right and altogether miss the s-curve by the pipe. I took the s curve though. That was after the water had gone back down to about 200cfs. We hit the little rapid at Ioni creek the day before at about 3000cfs and took some water into the canoe on about 3 of the standing waves. We rescued a couple of skimpily dressed college girls right before Chick Bend who had capsized. Now I know why they call it Chick Bend.

I have been on the brazos many times but I havent gone farther than 3-4 miles from hwy16. I need to do the full 20 one time.

There are MANY good holes along the way and it hurts to have to paddle past them. My car has always been safe at Rochel's until I return. I have been on the brazos many times but I havent gone farther than 3-4 miles from hwy16. I need to do the full 20 one time.

Got back late yesterday. Had a great trip fishing was slow only 5 sandies and two stripers and no bass. Good camping and water flow was decent only had to get out twice to pull the PA over shallow spots. The last six miles from the boy scout camp to hwy 4 was really windy, also they had about 150 boy scouts in a canoe race that was funny to watch. All in all great trip ready to go again. Will post pics later today. Going to Aranasas pass next weekend, will post report when I get back.
