I am getting ready to buy a GPS and wanted to get input on what to get and waht features to look for. What software to get with it, any problems you may have had with your unit. Also, to get color or not and how big of a screen to get. Any and all info greatly appreciated.
If you give a man a fish you feed him for the day, But if you teach him how to fish you feed him for life.

do you want hand held or mount? Do you want one that will support map cards? I would go with the Lowrance I-finder for a handheld. I have a Eagle intellie map, it looks just like a depth finder but is only GPS. I have the navionics card in mine...got to have the maps they are great.

I have a lowrance 3500c. Its color w/480 by 480 resolution but small screen and is mapping gps only that went for $500. Added a fishing hotspots elite. For the money I would recommend it. As far as cards, research which card has the lakes you fish with the most detail. Fishing hotspots elite has 5ft increments. Of course this is fixed mount. With lakes as low as most are this is a great time to map them out!
