seen this for a few years, was told it was due to a comorant getting hold of them at some point in time......not sure if that is correct though..
how many out of say 100 fish have that on them?

I might add that I have seen this on RC, Tawakoni and I am sure it happens on Hubbard too, but not for sure on that one.

I agree with Steve, but also it could be scars from the spawning process also. If it's not in the meat I would't worry about it. This past weekend we caught a few sandies that had puncture marks going thru the fish. Gotta away from the birds but didn't get away from my slab.

Spawning process. I always seem to see then like that right after the spawn. That is my thought.

maybe every two to three had some type of red marks on them, also had one hybrid that would have gone six pounds that had the red blotches also all fish where released after photo op. we had took my neibors dad out that is in his 90's and when he hung that hybrid i thought it was going to pull him in.
