any special technique or advice on how to keep my frog from turning or spinning upside down on the retrieve ??

will a 5/0 1/16 ounce still allow the frog to float when i need to stop and twitch it a sec...

all of them are going to sink unless you get the high floater models. Even with those it will go down if you have a heavy hook/weight on it, but I think a 1/16 would be okay. I dont typically use the high floaters, just cause I dont like the plastic they are made from

I routinely IGNORE whether my frog is right side up or not. Haven't notice any difference in hookup ratio one way or the other.

If you're talking about a "Horny Toad" type frog, I use a 5/0 Owner J-Hook that seems to keep it from spinning, unless I reel too fast. I also use a tiny 1/8 oz bullet sinker and bead to keep it from riding on the surface, for those times - usually early spring - that the fish seem to want it a foot or less under the surface.

Owner 5132 Twist Lock hooks are the best frog hooks I've ever used.

its called fred, same one we used but with a few modifications...
