I grew up calling these things white bass now that I have lived in north Texas I am calling them sand bass.

I grew up in El Paso, Texas. They were white bass until I moved to Dallas. Now they are sand bass.

They were white bass to me as a child around Austin. Now that I am up here in DFW I hear sand bass more often.

grew up in the Panhandle area... always heard sand bass up there

always been sandbass to me, but everybody I knew say south of Austin and College Station called them whitebass.

We have always called them whitebass in our area, Austin and everywhere around here. Even TPWD refers to them as whitebass.

grew up in Corpus....white bass

San Antonio and points south...white bass.

College Station area/Somerville...white bass.

Houston area...white bass.

I'd venture that even as far north at Lampasas (Colorado Bend State Park) they're still white bass.

Maybe somewhere north of waco is the dividing line?

I have been in N.E. TX all my life. I never heard of a White Bass until I started reading this forum.

Sean...you maybe right! I went to Baylor and my roommate was from Brenham...We would go to Sommerville for whitebass and then up in the Brazos and Nolan Rivers near Cleburne for Sandbass.....LOL...but those guys I knew in Waco and those from there called them sandbass.

I know in Arkansas at Beaver Lake.....they were called whitebass and the striper guide I had was more interested in the stripers then the acres of surfacing whites.....I was too!
