Me and Porta-Bote Guy got on the lake early afternoon. Sandies were hitting slabs near the Tribute Golf Club. Had to really work hard all afternoon to get 10 fish on the stringer. Porta-Bote Guy caught a crappie using, of all things, a Shakespeare Tidewater baitcaster reel spooled with 25-lb test line on an Ugly Stik Tiger and using a 2-oz slab. Didn't see many fishing boats and no boat shows.

I managed to eek out a handful crappie this weekend - had to WORK for em. I saw a group fishing the deep water timber and a group fishing shallow water timber as well. Not sure how they did - looks like I was using the wrong stradegy. Depoly the TNT slabs!

We went out saturday, floated around the whole lake caught 1 sandie 10 1/4 iniches. It's amazin' how the forest has simply cut the lake in 1/2. Hey, I saw our ol'friend, the lady in the blue boat. She was behavin' I guess because no fish were schooling. That's the first time I saw her since June. I forgot about her since no one is ranting about her on line lately.

We were out Saturday AM and couldn't find anything schooling so we started trolling and managed a couple of 3-4Lb Hybrids. Throw in less than a handful of Sandies and we were off the lake by noon. Very few fisher people out but I did run into DTA and he said something I have never heard him say before. He said he hadn't caught a fish for an hour and 1/2. You know its a slow day when DTA says something like that!!!! I bet he still managed to boat over 50 on a slow day. How about it Don?

Went Saturday to try some crappie theories. Some worked, some didn't. Matt caught one he said was his personal best. Monster to be sure. smile
We left the trial area about 12:00 or 1:00 to try Sandies. Caught fish at the northern end, went more toward the south and barely picked up anything. frown Saw LOTS of stuff on the sonar, but no takers...next time I'm gonna lower a few crappie jigs overboard when I see that mess. bolt

I found a lot of shad hitting the top between deadmans and the whitehouse Sunday. There were no fish under them tho. Did manage to catch a 3" shad on a slab that was about the same size.

Catching Crappie on a slab is an added bonus. I ran into something this year that really surprised me. I believe I caught more crappie this year slabbing than any other. Not sure if it was because I started slabbing earlier this year than I normally do. I usually dont slab till around 3rd week of May. This year I started slabbing just about every trip earlier in the spring. What I found out on here from another post from a fellow TFF who posted on here that the TNT Magnum Magnet in 1oz char/white was killer for nice size crappie. So I tried it, he was right. That particular bait accounted for more crappie for myself slabbing than any other slab I had in the box. Not trying to sell anyone a slab laugh ,but next time you order you might keep it in mind and try one.

Pete, that was Sunday we saw each other on LL. laugh
It was a tough day to say the least. We did manage 44 whites and no hybrids that day. Went today and it was much better.
