have a small issue, I loaded a spinning reel with flor. when I had the spool full and cliped the line, it started coming for the spool, no kinks, I managed to get it back and it worked okay, I just wondered if this is normal?

That's what happens when you put FC on a spinning reel. The smaller the line diameter, the less it springs off the reel. Most guys use braid with a FC leader.

First problem your using a spinning reel!! I can't stand those things and believe me I have tried to get used to them but I'll take small line on a baitcaster and get more power and more accuracy than I ever could with a spinning reel.

Good luck to you guys. I know alot of you guys love them but they are not for me.

thanks for the info, I am throwing a jr. fluke weightless, ( the only way they would hit was to let the bait sink down)this week bastrop has been great.

Like stated above, you may have to much line on the spool and the KVD line and lure conditioner will for sure help. One problem with using Flourocarbon line on spinning reels is that it is such a stiff line. I use spinning rigs for the ultra finnesse fishing and have used many different lines on them. I have found that the most manageable lines are not as limp as braid, gets to many knots in the line, and a line not to stiff that tries to always spring off the reel. The best line I have found is the P-line Evolution. It is a copolymer lane that has the abrassion resistance of flourocarbon and manageability of a good mono and it casts like a dream with KVD LLC on it.

Lots of good info on here. I would add, once you get the reel spooled with the correct amount of line, tie the end of the line to a trailer hitch, fence post, whatever, walk off as much line as you have room to, and stretch that line. Then condition the line as you reel it in. Using the right diameter line, not over spooling, stretching the line, and using KVD line conditioner and you should be good to go.

O. K. Here's what to do;Respool the line from the spinning reel to a bait cast reel. Put the bait cast reel on your bait cast rod most closely equivalent in action to the spinning rod you were using. That line is too expensive to throw away. Once you fish it on the bait cast equipment you will never fish it on spinning gear again.

Or out in open just cast out behind the boat and feed out extra line and coat with KVD LLC while reeling back in. Also ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS have a swivle on the line just up from any soft plastic to help eliminate line twist.

Make sure there is a good 1/8th of an inch or more of spool showing at the top when you put new line on and use plenty of KVD conditioner when you spool up and you shouldn't have any problems.

I am using a stradic 3000, 8-lb test, fising in the current, my best bite is casting upstream and letting the fluke sink, this method is a strike almost every cast (18"-20" lmb) I would rather use a casting reel, but can't get the distance I need. THANKS to everyone for your help, this is such a great place to get info. Kenny
