"Your catching more fish 'cause your in the front of the boat".
I see this as a way people try to make themselves feel better. I outfish people in the back of the boat alllllll the time. I try to tell my friends who use this excuse that it doesnt matter, but nobody ever agrees.
This isnt a whining thread, just wanting to see how other people feel about this topic.

There is an advantage with being im the front for sure, but the person in the back can capitalize on angles missed by the person in the front.

There are disadvantages to being in the front of the boat also... the person in the front alot of times is the person throwing the wrong bait at the fishes face. If your in the back and using a different bait or presentation, you can capitalize.

If the guy in front is a good stick and throws at the likely spots he's going to spank you most times. I've experienced this with guides many times. If the guy up front leaves you things to fish you can come out ok..........

The guy on the front as 1st crack at every fish giving him a big advantage. So your friends might be on to something if your not leaving them any clean water and are stuck fishing your dirty water. You may be tried of hearing it but there right.IMHO

I understand the guy in the front always gets the first throw at a fish. But I heard sometimes fish wont bite until they've been cast at a couple times. Or like stated above the person in the back gets different angles, and plus hes just sitting there while the person in the front has to control the boat not just for himself, but the guy in the back as well. I actually prefer to fish in the back just so I can sit on my arse all day and catch more fish than the guy in the front.
I will never use this excuse!

i was invited by a bass angler once and he was throwing his arm out up front. i thought he was going to tell me to run the t/motor and fish up front for a while but never did . i got frustrated after a while and decided to throw my tx/rigged worm out into open water (in the back )as far as i could and just held the rod and would pump it every once in a while since the t/motor was running the boat at a good clip . wouldnt you know it bam , 4 fish in no time . my friend must have got frustrated because he never invited me again .hahaha . i think he was planning to show off how good a bass fisherman he was ,but it backfired on him ! lol

It never makes any difference with me. I'm usually the one on the bow but when I'm not, I like not having to pilot the boat and fish at the same time.

I was talking about that last week with a friend of mine. We use my boat but i've always sat in the back due to he fact that i just fish for fun and go out to relax. I do believe however, that the guy in the fron has an advantage since he is the first one to cast to all the good places. Also correct me if I'm wron, but i dont recall a pro angler letting the non boater be up front while he fishes from the back. Just my .02 cent

Working a bank there's no doubt the guy with the TM under foot has a huge advantage. Have you noticed how many fewer hang-ups you have in front?
But deep water sturcture fishing there's no advantage and I actually like being at the stern so I don't have to hassle with holding on a spot.
