good old fashion rapala knives work best for me. i use the small one mostly (about 6 inches long). i clean 15lb reds with this knife on a regular basis.
they take a very sharp edge. i use crock sticks to keep mine sharp.
i don't like electric knives.... they waste too much meat. (i tend to clean my fish like a surgical procedure...)

I like the old fashion rapala's also, but my dad bought me a Rapala electric and for multiple fish, they are fantastic. I know what KingBingo is talking about with the surgical precision but when you have 30 sandies on the table, and the sun is setting, time to get busy with an electric. If I have one fish or just a couple I won't mess with plugging in, but if it is more than 5, I like the electric. The rapala has 2 sizes of blades, a ac plug, a dc plug and a clamp adapter, so you can use it anywhere. The only draw back is I have to wrap up the cord EXACTlY to make it fit in the case.

I use a commercial electric knife my wife bought for me when I can, but carry six of the Rapalas. I have a 28 qt. ice chest that my "cleaning" tools stay in, knives, diamond stick, zip lock baggies, glove, extension cord, and a cleaning board. Makes it a lot easier to keep it all together. I try to always clean the fish at the lake if there is a fish cleaning facility available.

GE makes an electric that is the best I've ever used. Never get meat between the blades and the motors seem to be bulletproof.

Anyone can catch a lot of fish when they're hungry . . . . My favorite days are the ones where the fish don't want to eat, but I make 'em do it anyway.

Right on bassdreamer, I don't know why they have to make a case so small. I have to wrap my cords up and tie off with a tiny bungee cord and what's up with the token cutting board, a perch wouldn't fit on that thing. Other than that I love the knife and like you said for multiple fish it makes quick work.

I had a buddy of mine make one for me. It has about a 15' blade with saw teeth on the backside. He made it out an old hacksaw blade from a machine shop. But sometimes I still use my electric one.

boomer, I might ask what kind of fish are you cleaning?? For Crappie, I like either the Mr. Twister electric with the 9" blade, or I have an American Angler Ultra into which I plug a Mr. Twister 9" blade. But, for heavy boned fish like kitties and stripers, the GE Carving Set knife that StriperSwiper mentions above....About $19 at WallyWorld, simply can't be beat for the price. It comes with a "bread" blade that has tiny saw teeth, and it will go through those big rib cage bones like a hot knife through butter. I went in and wired across the trigger to where the knife runs continuously when I plug it in, until I unplug it....Doesn't take long to undress a bunch of big fish in a hurry.
