Spent all day yesterday on Roberts....I won't complain too much because we caught 7 in spite of the high blue bird skies. Two biggest were 6.5 and 8. Why is the lake still so muddy....everywhere. Is the good grass all gone? I found some decent coontail (or what I think is coontail)but the water was still pretty muddy in those areas. I remember back several years ago that the lake stayed pretty clear no matter how much rain or wind you got. I miss those days ....getting nostalgic....have to go cry now.....

I miss them too. That grass would sure help clear it up. Too much wind and rain to help any. Yup, coon tail in Sand Branch and scattered elsewhere. Hydrilla went away with the severe drought of many years ago. I don't cry much, just go out and try again. Change the c in cry to a t and make the best of the situation. Too many guys would be joyful over your day.

Indian was the clearest creek arm and it was worse Tues. then it was two weeks ago. I feel your pain. It will clear up just in time for the deep water bite!

A 7 fish day out there is a great day for me. I get skunked about 80 percent of the time. And your quality was good too. Sounds like a great day. Could of been at work.

Don't get me wrong....I am very happy with the day I had. I just miss the lake the way it used to be.

lol. Im just giving you a hard time. I never got to fish it before and learning to fish on this lake has been a little stressful. Hope you can have some better days. I bet the water will clear up if we can go a few days without 30 mph winds.

I fished out there last weekend and caught fish all day on a SPRO frog. Around grass, timber, coon tail(if thats what that is). Most of the fish came out of 4 foot or less around some sort of point or creek channel swinging close to the bank, and werent shy when they hit it either. Maybe this might help, or at least you can have some fun with the frog bite.

I did have 5 blow ups on a popper the other evening but somehow didn't connect with any of them. Some could have been sandbass but they were blowing up on it while it was sitting still which generally isn't typical for sandbass. No telling. Oh yeah, the grass is Milfoil.

Sometimes on Ray Bob just throw what you think won't have a chance to catch fish and your luck might change.

I just kept it in my hand all day. Just felt like the thing to do and it was working. Never had any big fish but hads a few up to 4lbs , but lost them when they got me down in the millfoil. Most of the better bites came a lot father out form the bank than I expected FYI.

Ray Roberts is the most perplexing lake on the planet. About the time you give up on the lake, you catch a 6-8lb hawg. Unfortunately, it looks like it has potential to be a great big bass lake, but it never has produced to expectations.
