I'm going down to the Freeport Jetties and was wondering if any one had and tips or suggestions. I have fished the North and South Jetties for years, but never Freeport. Any knowledge would be appreciated.

thats one of mine favorite spot but be prepare to walk, i walk almost to the end and have very good success with sheephead, trout, red, smacks, pompano and others. i also have a fishing cart to carry all my rods, live well for live shrimp, cooler, bucket, and cast net..trust me the cart is a big help smile

my setup is 8'6 rod with abu garcia 6500 spool with 30lb power pro and using a lemon rig (check the video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nCWbATOOaaI). the water is about 8ft to 10ft and the lemon rig is def. a big help.

Tank8677 is correct, a cart is a must have. I have 2 pairs of golf shoes with metal spikes, (a real butt saver). I rig a cork with bobber stopper and or cork with 4 ft metal or mono free line.

Thanks for the info...which one of the jetties is better? The one on the east or the west. The wind is forecast to be 10-20 out of the south.

i think surfside will be better because the water in the surf will be protected from the wind and thats where you catch most of the fish, but if you are on the quintana jetty the channel will be protected.
