Last that I heard they had 7 gates open with about 7200 CFM being released. Try throwing small shad colored crank baits and 1/4 ounce white roadrunners.

According to the charts, it is currently releasing at 11,700 and it could be on another upward trend ...not sure what that translates into number of gates open.

Thinking about going Frday morning, does anyone know how many gates are open now? It did not look that high at the 59 bridge.

I went on Sunday. All twelve gates open.Lots of boat.No one caught anything,at least half a day I was there.Better luck trolling early morning on the lake south side of deer island.Heard the whites and striper are doing well up there.Might even want to throw some jugs or trot lines for cats.Lots of large shad next to the boat ramp on the west side.I hook one on the back with my road runners.Makes good cat fishin baits.

It does not matter now, the wife wants me to take her on a weekend getaway and I know that does not include fishing.

You can compromise.Take her to Galveston. There's alot of nice restaurant, and tourist attraction down there. You can hang out afterward on the sandy beach and do some salt water fishin.Galveston fishing report that the fishing is heating up all along the beach front.Plus if you have kids they will absolutely love to play in the sand. That's what I do with my wife and kids.If she wants to go shopping then you are out of luck.
