That is crazy. If it happened to us we would have shot back. The group I kayak with is usually well armed.

With a pistol, the best thing you can do is look for and take cover then stand by. If they come closer and at range, all bets are off.

Wow, certainly was not expecting the title of the thread to be literal when I clicked on it. I could only imagine the fear and anger of laying there and feeling helpless. Im a pretty damn good shot, even with a pistol. At the minimum I would have tried put down some cover fire and ge out of the open. World is full of crazy people, always watch your [censored]

Fishing in remote areas like that probably wouldn't be a bad idea having something a little more potent such as a folding stock shotgun, SKS, or even an AK neatly tucked away in a dry bag inside your forward hatch.
Just one more cast!

There are some real scum sucking f-ck wads in the world. Not that it would have mattered in this case, but because there are so many idots, I don't usually post about my upcoming fishing trips; I usually only post after the fact. Can't be too careful these days.

been shot at with a scatter gun LL as a girlfriend & drifted a bank in little elm area. some drunk idiots shot at us twice from their house. the pellets hit all around us. last i heard their house had burned to the ground. i think they finally pulled something like that on the wrong folks. im pretty sure this happens all the time cause my buddy (a roanoke cop) was hunting on his property in south texas when he & his brother heard rounds over their heads. they took cover & returned fire. no one was hit but he said his life flashed before his eyes!

I spent 22 years in the Marine Corps and never had a single round fired at me. Then the first time I went creek fishing (from the bank) I was shot at while walking out of the creek. Pretty sure it was inadvertant because the trailhead is a known target shooting area, but it wasn't fun just the same. I can't even imagine what these guys felt like. I'd of probably done the same as DallasCat.
