I have always wondered this myself. I would like to start baiting a few holes on Inks Lake and keep them baited pretty regular. How long will a baited hole last?

i'll keep this short .... we use hen scratch, we do not put it in anything but throw some in the area we are fishing. if you go back to the same hole often, you will find that the fish start to hold up there. this time of year, look for a wind blown bank with cover or rip rap around 5" or less! just my .02

I use wild bird seed. Works great. Havent chummed in a while, but I usually just bait and fish.. If I am being more serious about it I will chum out a few holes and come back to them after 10 minutes or so. I usually bait out in the stumps or along a weed line.

We use Milo or wheat and have good luck with both. Always let it sour for while. Then take a 5 gal. Bucket and a coffee can when you go out. Throw some out where you want to fish and if there around they will come in. I try to find a gravel bottom around a drop off or some big rocks and you should do alright. Good luck.

Keep your souring barrel in the sun with a cover on it. A little bit of heat goes a long way.

You want a long lasting hole bait use road kill rabbit, coon, armadillos. Just sack'em and sink'em,works better then you think.

Keep your souring barrel in the sun with a cover on it. A little bit of heat goes a long way. Yep but add 2-3 beers some salt and honey lid on in the the sun for 2 days then your ready to go. when I lived in Illinois we used seed corn and beans soaked in all that good stuff worked in the river always had nice fish in our spot. note dont grab it with your hands use a coffee can or scoop

I have used soured grains in the past but they are a pain. I keep a hole baited with hog feed and it works wonders. Hog feed, bird seed(never tried),chicken scratch, or range cubes. Cast em out heavy at first and just 3 lb coffee can after that. Once the hole is baited you can use just about anything for bait. If your feeling froggy you can make a dough bait out of the hog feed with water and caro syrup that will keep you reeling em in all summer long.

We call'em "tow sacks" in Texas Made from burlap or hemp, used ones are hard to come by these days. We bought a "bundle" from ULine* a few years ago and still have several left. We only bait out 3 places in our area so the bag purchase was worth it when split between 4 of us. Ok this might be the dumbest question ever but here goes....Where can you get burlap bags?

Do you reuse the burlap bags or is this a one time shot and then you just replace it the next time you need to rebait.
