I was fishing last week on Choke and ran into a guide that fishes for bass in 15 to 25ft. of water at Choke. He told me he uses a Carolina Rig; 1/2 to 3/4oz. Weight and uses the very large flukes. Anybody every fish like this and have success. I took down the guides name and looked him up. Seems he had a tourney there last year where he had a stringer of 5 fish that was 48 lbs. Largest 5 fish stringer there to this day. Wondering if anyone fishes like this cause I'm going back on Thursday with the same gear he was telling me to try and I could use some pointers. I jusat recently started trying deeper structure now that I have better electronics. Any pointers would help.

went to Falcon this weekend. fished isolated rock piles/ledges in 20-40' of water. Only caught 25 but they were between 4 & 9 lbs. I use the exact same set up by I like a heavier weight. Gets down faster and holds to the bottom better. When you feel that rock, slow down and get ready to jack some jaws!

Just be ready to hold on tight. Caught a few yesterday in 12-15' of water and hit like a fat girl on a ding dong. Seriously, you need to try it. Throw it out, hit the bottom and drag with consistant short pulls until you feel structure. Stop it, twitch it, and if no takers keep pulling. One of my favorite ways to fish.
I dream of a better world. A world where chickens can cross the road and not be questioned of their motives.

Awesome; I new we had some guys on here that new how to fish like this. In that depth you think I can get away with 20 lb. Fluerocarbon or am I gonna need to got braid on the top half of my C-rig. Rather than wondering how I should rig it. What do you think the best rig would be?

I like heavier braid with at least a 20 lb flouro leader -- good for Falcon at least. You also might try a t-rigged big senko or brush hog -- works great too. And don't forget the big, 1oz football jigs. Workem slow usually does the trick. And be patient, it's usually not as many bites as beating the banks.

I personally am convinced that there is a VERY LARGE population of fish that do everything deep year round. Including spawning. 2 Weeks ago I fished a tournament at Fork and decided I would just fish deep and stay away from the shore and the 700 boats beating the banks looking for beds. Over 2 days my partner and I caught 60-70 fish, all on C-Rigs, DD22's and drop shots. On top of that we had 5 fish over 7 and up to 9 still full of eggs. All of that happened in water no shallower than 15ft. Maybe it was a fluke, but I can't see how that many fish being deep, even during the spawn is a fluke.

I was about to start a thread on here asking about tips to fishing deep in Fork. I have not ever been too successful in water deeper than 12' or so, thus even though I know that is where they are, I rarely fish deep. I want to become a better angler and broaden my skills and this year start to gain some talent fishing the deep spots in Fork. Any beginner tips to deep water on Fork? P.S. I am not a tournament angler and practice strict CPR, so I pose little threat to depleating Fork of its monsters by mearly gaining some skils...

Also I just really enjoy reading about peoples success fishing in the deeper water and how they do it. It's getting me amped up for my trip to Choke this Thursday. Keep em comin!!!
