I'm having a problem with a 1983 90HP Johnson. The motor is raised up all the way and now won't go down. It sounds like it's getting power (it's making normal sounds) but the hydraulics just seem 'stuck'. I've tried to put force and push it down and it still won't budge.

Anyone know of a good mechanic around Ray Bob? I have no idea how to fix this and dont feel too comfortable driving around without the motor being supported by the transom saver.

There is a manual release valve on the side of your camp bracket, all you have to do is grab a big flat blade screww driver and turn the resest screw couter clock wize and the motor will come down. Remember to tightin screw back.

Well, I know what screw you're talking about. I found a big enough screw driver for it and it came out - released some pressure but the motor did not lower. Any other ideas or mechanic recommendations around Ray Bob?

I've been overcharged one too many times at the marina, hence the looking for reputable mechanics in the area. I may try Bear Marine.
