A buddy and I went to the Vine today. Got on water about 7 am. Water like glass, but a little breeze came up later. Lots of birds at the bubbles, but few fish. Went to Rockledge then to Murrell. Nothing going on. Marked a few, but no takers. Spotted a few birds across the lake at Meadowmere and spent about 1/2 hour or so catching sandies almost every cast. Some pretty nice size. Great fun. Then.......everything stopped.....nothing.

Pulled a few very small dinks in a couple of other places.

Went back to bubbles; caught one or two then took it to the house.

About 25-30 fish, all released. All caught on Humdingers.

Beautiful day, just not too many fish.

I have been reading posts on this forum and trying the diferent ideas out for 6 months in hopes of being able catch fish when I invited someone to go fishing with me. Finally got the courage up to try it and invited my brother in law. He, my dad and I got on the lake around 1:00pm and started making the rounds. Nothing at Rockledge so went to Dyer Slough. Marked a lot of fish there and some birds floating on the water. Edged into the birds and started catching some fish. Birds moved more off shore so we followed. Spent the next 4 hours going back and forth, but catching fish consistantly the whole time. It was a little difficult without a trolling motor and the stiff breeze to stay with the fish. Caught a total of 60, cleaned 34 for brother in law's freezer. Caught most on TNT slabs with Pet Spoon above that. Several doubles. Tried the wait a few seconds after you have one on the line to try and get a second on the line. Acutally worked a couple of times, but also lost a couple doing it, so they canceled each other out. For us, a good day.
