Grew up on the Brazos fishing with my dad. A guy that I dated introduced me to flyfishing and I've been hooked ever since... no pun intended! An added benefit is all the odd looks from people since many of us ladies don't match the stereotypical fisherman... especially when we show up the guys out there!
Proudest, loudest, fightin' Texas Aggie class of 2011!! Thanks & Gig 'em! Katie

Well fly fishers, and fly fishers wanna be, you know there is a fly fishing forum here at TFF. I am a lady fly fisher. Sara there is Fly Fish Texas at Athens this upcoming weekend. You can learn how to fly fish there. Many times there will be lessons at Bass Pro Shop, or Cabella on a Saturday. You may live near a fly fisher who would give you a lesson as well. A certified casting instructor would be better to learn from, but in a pinch those who can cast fairly well can get you started till you can find another person to get you started out right. Kelly

I couldn't even begin to answer why - I just like to go fishing. Heck, I don't even like to eat fish!
My grandparents in Florida had waterfront property when I was little, and we'd fish there, it was a big deal to me.
Nowadays, it's a good excuse to get away from this rat race we call life!

Don't know why I love it so much, but it's a passion. Not much on bass or stripers unless someone takes me right to them and has all the equipment I need. Love the crappie and the pull on the lightweight. I fish Texoma (Buncombe area), Ardmore Lakes and Murray. Don't need to drive far with so many around me. Love it! Love it!

Started fishing growing up on farm ponds with my family.
Catching is obviously fun, but the challenge of figuring out where they are and what they want is the biggest thrill. Fishing is a way to get away from things, and relax.

I'm pretty sure men and women fish for the same reasons...usually one or a combination of the following: the outdoors/the water adrenaline rush love of wildlife competitiveness dinner/self sufficiency Not everything is gendered
People and fish are alike. They both get into trouble when they open their mouths.

My dad took me fishing in Wisconsin at the Cataract pond, and when I got older I fished at the Ft McCoy ponds and Angelo and Sparta ponds. I love the excitement of getting a bite and then catching the fish, always anticipating how big it is. I dont care to eat them so I throw back. I love the out of doors until it gets too hot. I am now in Texas trying to catch bass and catfish, drums, carp. I dont care what I catch; just want to pull in the big ones. It is such a great feeling to have a big fish on line. There is nothing like it.

I grew up being able to walk down to the lake and fish anytime I wanted to...never needed my big brother or anything...always baited my own hook.
Now? I love the feeling of the Hit...set the hook well enough, and your off! I love to fish for bass, they are agressive and jump at the bait, WOMP~! I also enjoy a nice relaxing time sinking it to the bottom for a good channel cat. It's the feeling of nature and being outside...calm and quiet...til I get a bite...then I'm transformed back to that little piggy-tailed girl out back by the pond!
