Any of you fished the Rio Grande in the national park? Do you have any advice on where to fish?

I hear the water is low often, and I don't know much about river fishing to begin with.

We have fished it, we set drop lines off the rocks. There might still be some of the wedges with tie off holes drove in some of those good rocks. We dropped our lines holding boat into the current, on the rock bluffs and baited with the biggest goldfish you can find, you cant jug inside the park. Good YELLAS in there.
You are a brave soul to fish down there these days.

by brave soul, i assume you are talking about taking the chance of fishing around the criminal's along the border? my cousin works for border patrol, he's told some pretty grim stories of border patrol against criminal's, said there was a few drug lord's they sent 30 rounds thru their car door just make sure they were dead in a shoot out.

Trouble is generally where "you" find it,tend to your own affairs and you'll likely catch a few nice fish.

To many folks live in fear these days, all things happen for a reason in their own season.

Those folks down there dont give a sh@* about you, me or anyone else. Even if by accident you are not where u are supposed to be or see something you should not have, dont think they wont do something about it or you are as full of it as they are. Fear no. Why put yourself in a bad situation in a unsafe area.

Just my thoughts though

Appreciate the advice. It's hard to go down there for vacation and not fish some. May mostly be at night, depending on where we camp. Don't want to do anything stupid, but I trust the Man above to take care of me.

Heading out in the morning. Good luck to all on the water!

Remember, the Lord helps those who help themselves.
I would take something like a 12ga with buckshot

I hope you guys catch a boat load, that is sure alot of fun to fish the river. Have a safe trip and carry plenty of spare mags. Let us know how it goes, have any of you guys fished Adams Ranch area or Blackgap recently? Last time we were there was good jug fishing.
