I was fishing the bank on the northeast side of the lake between the boat launch at Longhorn and the pump station. I gave up on trying to get a bass to take a brush hog and tied on a white shyster (inline spinner). Had good luck two days before catching 10 sandies on this spinner. After catching numerous annoying little yellow bass, I finally caught a sand bass then a good sized hybrid (19"). A short time later I hooked into a good one. Started pulling drag imediately. Thought I had a big bass. Fought him for a good 3 minutes. Turns out that I fouled hooked a 6 lb carp on the dorsal fin. The fight was good but I was a bit let down. Around twenty minutes later I had a monumental hit, the kind that makes your heart race and your hands shake. I thought I finally got a big mama bass. Pulling drag and running every which way. This one took 5 minutes to get in and wouldn't you know it? Foul hooked another carp (9 lbs) right there on the ol' dorsal fin. Never caught a carp in my life and foul hooked two in one day, both on the dorsal fin. Caught 5 differnet species of fish: Sandy, Hybrid, Yellow, Carp and Blue Gill. Did not catch the species that I was targeting (Bass).
Just north of where I was fishing (the corner of the lake at the pump station) there was a dead catfish that had washed up on the bank. He looked to be 30+ lbs. It was huge.

Sounds like a fun time.

Do you keep and eat fish? I've heard yellow bass are delicious.

I fish a lot for carp, because they do fight very well!

Call me spoiled but I usually don't keep them unless I'm in my boat. I have not tried yellow bass yet but the ones I was catching were really small.

The yellow bass aint bad eating, just you have to catch alot to make a meal. No size or limit helps with that, but I enjoyed benbrook more before they showed up.
