I was on the lake on Monday going around 40 MPH and all of a sudden the boat loss power. I started to hear a clacking sound (Rod) I got it back to the ramp and loaded it on the trailer. I did a comp test tonight and no comp on cyl #2. Then I noticed the rubber line going to cyl #2 was pinched by this linkage. I moved the line but put it back just for thee picture. The 3 hoses for that side were not routed through the clamp and one got caught and pinched. Thanks for any help on this.

that is a scavenger hose .. all it does is suck puddled fuel from the reed block to the intake port.. makes the engine not load up at idle as bad blocked is probably not the cause.
if the line is cut or off the nipple at the cylinder it could cause a lean condition on that cylinder .
one the "real mechanics" will be along to better answer your question

Agree, do`nt see being pinched causing a failure.

Thanks for the info. It was just weird that that cyl is bad and it had the pinched hose. Does the entire engine have to come apart to swap out a piston on #2? I am going to take off the cly head today and check the cylinder out to see how bad it's scored.

no pinching does not cause piston failure.

If you notice there are parts of the piston missing that are black, and some are shinny. The black parts that are missing happened a long time ago, and the shinny stuff happened the other day. In other words you have been running around with a damaged piston just waiting to come the rest of the way apart, and that is just what happened. The hose is called a recirculating hose, or system,,,,They pull fuel from the cylinders to the reeds, to re burn unburned fuel from the cylinders,, makes for a cleaner running engine. I don't Know what the motor is worth to you, but I can probably fix that power head for under 1500.00,that will include carbs being done and plugs, complete ignition system test,Hone and new rings on all other pistons, and it I can make that 150 run like a 175-200. Give me a call If you want to save it. If you don't I would like to have the power head,I will pay shipping. 281-312-9856 Cary

I said 175-200. That would mean between them, and yes, I have made 150s make 182hp at the prop. Now I could not do that for 1500.00, that was an option of his ,if he was interested. If your intrested, bring me a 150, and I will do that for you for about 2000.00. 281-312-9856 Cary

Thanks for all the info. I ended up taking my boat to Texas Machine Works and had them swap the powerhead on it. The service was great and they gave me a excellent deal. Now my engine starts right away on the first start of the day. No more cold starting issues.
