That is exactly what I do. I tie the pet spoon 12-18" above the slab with a loop knot to get doubles. Steve taught me that on a trip. I also tie it above any top water lure for the same results. Usually works pretty good above the slab, except on BENBROOK!

I was out there Sunday afternoon til about 8:30...looked for some of the boats described, but didn't see any of you guys....I was with a buddy in a 17 camo tracker side console. we trolled by the dam and picked up one and then went over by mustang point about sunset and the birds were working really well...ended up with 14 nice sized sandies. I was trolling a spoon with a white 1/4 oz roadrunner about 18 in. above the spoon...I hooked up with 3 doubles on that rig. did anybody else have some luck?

Also, none of the fish I caught had spawned out yet.

WE all lied! Nobody went! LOL:D I came in from turkey hunting at 11 and slept until 2 on the couch, snoring and waking the dead. Then I went to home depot to get two fans for the patio outside. Ok, this is after turkey hunting the day before and coming home and putting 5 hours in the back yard, ok........so I go get the fans, and tell the wife I am going to take the boat out to Benbrook.....comment was, "well at least one of us gets to go have fun this weekend" I then was hanging ceiling fans wondering how the TFFers were doing on Benbrook.

We tried from before sun up Sunday until about 9:30, when we finally gave up without a hit. No bird activity at all. We weren't expecting it to be so cool, and thought we were going to freeze to death. I'd like to try it out tonight, and see what this afternoon action is like I keep reading about.

I took the family out Sunday morning. Had a good time with my 3 year old catching his first fish. Again, couldn't get them to bite any slabs that I threw at them. We caught a couple early and on the way in to Rocky Creek marina to load up and go home, found the birds working. Caught one on a top water then this guy comes trolling thru with his big motor. I shrugged my shoulders at him, but I guess he didn't get it. He trolled thru the birds and sandies 4 or 5 more times before I had enough and went on in.

Make a long story short, I didn't make it back out Sunday evening because I was wore out from keeping the kids busy that morning. We were out there a record 5 hours and can't remember them complaining once

i caught six sandies and two large mouth fishing the bank near the pump station sunday afternoon. several of the sandies were males that had not spawned yet. one bass was pushing three pounds. all were caught on roostertails.

Looks like I got stood up at the ramp! Oh, well...better than gettin' stood up at the alter! Guess I'll have to stick with morning trips!
