My son and I fish off of water-wagons (kickboats) and would like to know if there are places to launch at Alan Henry other than the ramp.
Thanks,
ABarney

I spent the last 9 years of my life in lubbock, and have fished at AH many a day.

http://lah.ci.lubbock.tx.us/pdf/LAHMap.pdf

this is a map of the lake; you can put in the back of gobbler creek, the highway goes right by the back of the creek. I have caught a ton of big fish in gobbler, especially this time of year. You dont happen to have an extra water wagon do ya?

cheers

drp

Do you just park by the bridge and walk down to the water?

Sorry to hijack but I may be headed there Thursday and was going to ask a similar question. I plan to pull my travel trailer and was wondering if there were camp areas close to the water where I could put my inflatable in? The banks look steep.

most of the lake has very steep banks that you will not have access to if you dont have a boat. you can camp at the camp ground by the boat ramp, and walk to the water from there...

Not what I wanted to hear. I was trying to avoid the boat ramp. That's the reason I've only been to AH once. Thanks for the info.

you could reach the bank from some areas of the park where the boat ramp is located... Gobbler is your best bet however...

Looks like the weather isn't going to cooperate. 20+mph winds. Think we're headed east, instead.

Just an FYI, I was told that you are required to pay the 'boat fee' on all vessels at AH, even non-motorized including personal pontoons and kayaks. But if you put in and park outside the park, you are not required to pay the entry fees.

Still trying to decide where I want to go tomorrow.

I've done this many times in the past with my float tube.

Launch at the ramp and go left towards the dam. Fish your way around the bank until you get to a big cove. When you get to the back of that cove, it is a short walk back to the parking lot. I used to do this all the time before there were so many trails beaten down. Now, there are lots of places to get out and many trails back to the parking lot.

The only problem with this is when you get even with the no wake zone, you can catch some pretty good waves, but just ride them out and you'll be fine.

Any of yall fly fish down there? I was thinking of giving it a try. Where would be a good place to start and some good patterns?
