Took the day off on friday and it was after lunch by the time we got to the lake and did all the chores to open the lakeplace up after not having been there but once since Thanksgiving, put new plugs in the boat and got it in the water.
Fished west out of Highport with RRunners, cranks, topwaters and anything else that came to mind along the Texas shore concentrating on shallow to deep points and ledges. Nadda. Ran into Jeff,John Varner and Joe "Axman" from Ft Worth on the Texas Flats near the Willis Bridge and had a nice visit. Jeff gave us some hickory shad and we fished back towards the Islands and the mouth of Big Mineral before calling it a day. Dropped off Miss Clairol and the dog at Highport to drive the Z'mobile and trailer back around to our boathouse in Little Mineral and I took off in the boat to meet her at the dock around 5:30. No guide boats anywhere from Highport or around the east end of the Islands, Soldiers Creek, TableTop to Lighthouse.... no fish either.
Slept in Saturday, worked some more on the place and got out on the water around 2. Picked up one fat 21-22"er on a shallow bar close to Little Mineral's campground on an ancient Bomber Striper A in pearl in about 6-8'. Whats that strange sound ...."ZZZZZ! ZZZZ!" coming out of my reel and why am I hung up again ... dang the bottom moved !
Hammered the coves and points all over Little Mineral up Preston Point and into the main lake and nadda. Did see some guide boats working the mouth of Little Mineral from Lighthouse to Granpappy's late Saturday but no bent rods anywhere. Some small flocks of gulls working but no fish under them. Went back to the lakeplace and worked in the yard to begin cleaning the 18 wheeler loads of leaves out of the yard. All and all a very calm quiet weekend when the weatherguessers were WRONG again.
Texoma is 31/2 to 4' low and there are lots of hump and bumps in some very unexpected places.... like in the middle of Little Mineral 500 yards offshore!
Right now is a good time to learn the shoreline before the water comes back up and TOPWATER SEASON kicks off. I can't wait!

I've been lurking here for a pretty good while, but this is my first post. I'm a regular on the Six Old Geezers Board. I fish Texoma a lot, but mostly the other end from where the Coyote is talking about. Water temps are rising, and the fishing has been getting better. All the action has been in shallow water on jigs and Sassy Shad. This past weekend we saw three 15's, a couple of other double-digits, and a number 7-9 pound fish come out of 2-12 ft. of water on wind-blown flats. There are BIG fish blowing up in 1-3 ft. of water, but they're not hitting topwater baits yet. Won't be long, though. All the females are full of eggs, so if you do get a big one, take some pictures and put her back. Eat the fry-babies.

WILEY, I HAD THE SAME RESULTS AFTER THROWING EVERYTHING IN THE BOAT AT THEM. I THOUGHT I WAS JUST A BAD, BAD FISHERMAN SO YOUR REPORT GIVES ME THE HEART TO GO AT THEM AGAIN THIS WEEKEND.
