Bait or Food?

Crawfish are all on the small side, better than nothing though.

great use of a kiddie pool- they are food

Hooking a fish is like playing string with a cat. The exact size, shape, color of string matters less than how you wiggle it- and little cats are easier to fool than big ones. John Gierach

Nice!

NightFisher, you're like the official TFF cook (other than all of our bbq teams). So how about an explination on how you plan to prepare them? I love to try it myself too!

Hey Nightfisher,
Do you have a resturant? Quite a few people have asked where these were bought. Is it a secret? Those are beautiful crawdads and whoever is selling them should be proud. There are a lot of us out here that would like to know where u got em?

You can get crawfish at any asian food markets. Hong Kong Market, Truong Nguyen market, Hiep Thai market, and saigon mall. All these food markets is in the garland area.

I know these guys from Boyds Seafood call-in to the Houston 610 AM fishing show almost daily. Usually toward the end of the show. Never been there or seen their crawfish, but they talk up how large their select XL's are. This morning he called in from the road on his way to Louisiana to pick up more mudbugs.

Haha... just saw this. The title says it all. Yeah... it's a shrimp, on a treadmill. Kinda cool really... I wouldn't stop at a shrimp though. I would have to see how a crawfish would hold up... betting it would go down like the treadmill scene from Jack@**

I'm calling BS on this Nightfisher fella. A lot of people have kindly asked where these were purchased at and so far he has just ignored all request. If it's a secret then he should just say so. But to ignore people just reflects poorly on his character. Lot of people on this forum are extremely helpful, but this fella just pops up every once in a while to brag about how good a cook he is then disappear. So enjoy your crawfish Mr Nightfisher, I just figure out how to put your posts on "Ignore".

Wow, yeah you got me there, these crawfish are all fake. **rolleyes** You know I post alot of threads on this forum during my day job as a webmaster (I cook at a restaurant at night). I rarely check back in this section. This is the photo section (show off section), not report section. I do go back and reply under the recipes section, especially in pm's. I mostly frequent the bank fishing section, thats where i spend most of my time.

Im sorry you're fraustarted, but if you were truly a "CAJUN" you would know where to find large size crawfish. The location isnt a SSSSSSSL. Any crawfish enthusiast would know where to get them. You don't have to have to have this kind of temperment and throw a fit.

I am going to kindly tell everyone where to get them. Go to an vietnamese ASIAN supermarket and pick up a special yellow sack called JUMBO. These JUMBO bags have been graded and all of these crawfish are jumbo size. These are available during hot days during the peak of the season. The place I got mine was called Hiep Thai in Garland off walnut and jupiter. If the store don't have them, call in advance to order. It would help if you spoke vietnamese too. These things go FAST!!!! Vietnamese love thier crawfish. If you dont believe me, go to Pappadeuxs on mondays and tuesdays. Half of the restaurant ( sometimes 3/4) are filled with Asian customers.

Ok, now that I have shown everyone here how to get jumbo sized crawfish... I better see some pictures of a these guys cooked.

Ninja Edit: Price 3.99 per lb (alwas expect about $1 more per pound over regular bags)

Also, if you want a recipe for crawfish boil? Do a search as i've posted the full recipe here already on TFF. Feel free to PM me for a recipe that will destory all recipes you find online.

Dude, don't get your panties in a wad. People get busy.

NightFisher, thanks for the info on the market man. I love seeing your posts, even if they are rare. In fact, I prefer them that way, otherwise they would get old. Hope the mudbugs turn out well.

I like to see his picture posts.
The man has some serious skills and if his food taste half as good as it looks he should have a cooking show.

Thank you very much guys. Feel free to PM me for recipes, I will try to write one for you. Most of these recipes are in my head and most unit measurements are done by eye. Some of these dishes are really hard, especially the asian dishes, which require WOK skills.

I've enjoyed his posts as well! No doubt this fella is talented. As for Asian Markets, there are some pretty good ones down here in Houston amd I have checked them out in the past. Even bought a few "bugs" from them as well.

I apologize to you Mr. Nightfisher. I have no excuse for my ill tempered response to you fine photos. Keep posting them for all to enjoy. And thanks for the location of your purchase.

I've choked down a few crows over the years. This has been a terrible week both at work and at home. Had to put my 8 year old puppy to sleep, and we are shorthanded at work.
No excuses though, it was just a dumb thing to say when I should have just PMd the question.

I just saw those cooked pictures and now I am HUNGRY. Those look really good. Looks like you toss them in a sauce when they are done cooking. Never tried it that way.

Take some sourcream and put it in a mixing bowl. Add small amounts of wasabi little at a time. Gives a nice kick to anything you put sourcream on.

Also try Mayonaise, Sriracha hot sauce and some sesame oil. Its called dynamite sauce. Try this sauce for fried fish or shrimp.

For steaks and crab legs, try melted buttter mixed with sambal oleke (ground chili).

If you use salt water it is about an hour wait to purge them.

purge smurge .i usually just through em a big cooler or your sink and just keep rinsing them till the water runs clean.

im not sold on the whole pooping ,vomting on themselves concept but to each his own ,i would eat them either way.

Your bugs will contain no growth hormone and no mercury or bacteria if you buy them in a sack that says Louisiana American product.
