What is the secret to catching small,10-20" Blue Cats?
It seems that whatever style or size hook that I use they steal the bait.

for "eater" size blues like you are describing, I would use small, say 5/0 circle hook baited with whole or cut fresh shad, and let them set the hook themselves by bending the rod over. works every time!

This time of year I switch to 2/0 or 3/0 circle hooks. I let 'em set the hook too, as I'm always fishing with kids and it's much easier for them that way.

If I'm lucky I'll die with a 7' spinning rod in my hand.

On some days you might try some punch-bait or a 2/0 or 3/0 circle, those baby Blues will hit the punch-bait.

Do you fish these guys with a tight line? I have been using a slip sinker with slack in line?
