Fished with first timers Harry and his grandson Ian. Started out at 6:45am and finished at 11:30am. Started out at Rob park were birds and fish were working. Saw Ruben with his 2 guest this morning, Brad and his son. Fish stayed up pretty good this morning. Also moved south , went past the dam and then went to Yankee creek were birds but not fish were working....got a call from Ruben and the fish were schooling by the dam were I just left. Headed over their and picked up some more. I could not find any fish holding to structure today. All fish that were caught were schooling. Ruben's boat was sacking them in today.
We keeped 45 sandies and caught 65-70 fish total. Caught a few small hybrids and 1 that went 17.All fish caught on www.humdingerlures.com , slabs and tiny torpedoes.

I was out there as well. John, I was going to introduce myself but never got close enough. I was the one with the two boys in an older model walk through.

The birds stayed scattered all morning and into the afternoon in the middle of the lake. They would come up for short only a few minutes and then back down. I got tired of fighting the wind and the other boats, so we trolled a hell-pet behind the other boats. We wore them out. Catching one on every pass. We ended up with a bunch and kept only 15 to eat. There were all of ten inchers caught, but there were a couple of small schools with some really nice ones.

I'm not sure if he is a TFF'er or not, but I want to say thanks to the gentleman in the center consoled boat (very similar to J.V.'s). He was very kind to my boys and I. I got out there with only slabs and hell pet rigs and he gave be a top water bait that was incredilbe. It is clear with a red nose, swims sporadically from side to side (as if you were "walking the dog"). It was awesome when they surfaced! I'm going to buy me a couple and I hope I can give yours back the next time I see you. Thanks again!

How windy was it? I am planning to go out in the morning in my 14ft vhull jon. It handles well in semi-rough water, but I dont care to deal with whitecaps. Last weekend they were schooling north of the east part of the 30 bridge in the trees. There was very little wind. Any action there in the past couple days?

John, do you use spinning gear for the tiny torpedo or casting gear with light line and a light rod? I hate spinning rods/reels, but that is the only way I can get any distance without backlash.

BobC, I use a spinning rod for my small top waters, I have a calcutta 100 that can trow them but it is just less headach with a spinning rod. If you get one, buy a good one...I like shimano..the 2000 or 4000 sidestab is good. rockwall guy I seen yall out their, stop and say hi next time.

Gotta...that was a case of Dad helping to much. He said "Dad! I got him that far, I could've got him in the boat!" Trust me, I heard about it ALL day.

It sure was good to see John putting his clients on some fish. We were in the same spot but it sure seem like they (John) was catching more than us. Way to go John!! Sure was Windy!!

Good fishing to ya,

Ruben

Great job on the fish John. thumb We haven't been able to get out on the lake very much lately because of school starting and football. Also haven't had too much luck the times we do go. We might be out Saturday so holler if you see us. smile
