Thought I'd try a little night fishing for Crappie soon, and was wondering - which do you prefer, those glow stick slip bobbers or the LED type?

The led with the bb's in it seem to work better than the others. I think the rattle of the bb's really helps out. I've even heard the crappie bite and make it rattle when i wasn't looking

If you use those big led bobbers with the rattlles you might want to put plenty of weight under it so it pre sinks the bobber some, its alot for a crappie to pull under. I see them pulling it to the side alot if its not weighted and then they let it go. If you use the little chemstick bobbers, they are good unless you cast far out, then they are kind of hard to see them.
COMING SOON! .. THE STICKLE HOOK " the stay level sickle hook". sits level in the water with all knots.! Provides better hook sets and more natural jigging motion. No more adjusting the knot, gluing , or tying loop knots that cause the hook point to tangle in the loop, or worse knick the line.. The jighook that will make all others obsolete !

Neither...... I use glow-wrap from Team Catfish. In fact I just ordered some new tape last night. I thought about buying some glow tape off ebay, but you never know the quality you'll get. I know the stuff from Team Catfish last a very long time. I use a small piece on the end of all my night fishing rods. I've been doing just the tip but I was thinking of adding a couple more little pieces further back the rod (as Team Catfish suggest to do). Just a piece on the tip has worked awesome though.

I have the same question. Been shopping and found these. Any other linked suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Night Bobby Light stick Earlier, Dock Boy suggested white out correction liquid for rod tips, which I'm going to try before I buy the tape. Also trying to find some lights for boat slip area. Something that doesn't attract bugs and not necessarily rope or Christmas string lights. Would like something portable where I can see the poles and tie a hook on.

I have used both the glow sticks and the LED bobbers. I perfer the Bobber. Glow sticks can turn away from you and they will not be as clear to you. If you look carefully you can find a small LED bobber that I found at Academy. On the LED bobber the entire bobber top lights up/glows. My husband had bobber envy when I purchase it.
Let's go Fishin!

The best of them all is the BulletBobber. Steer it, night or day, or slip rig it. www.bulletbobber.com

I have used the red light bobber, it works great, but like mentioned above, you have to weight it, and one came off on me, yeah I know my fault lol, that being said keep in mind they cost some pennies and so to the batteries. I switched to light sticks and the 3" sticks work pretty well!

I use the stick for 2 reasons besides the fact Im so use to it and never use round bobbers anymore... 1) so easy to see it move when a fish hits it... 2) On a slip bobber (and even with the glow sticks at night) if you happen to fish too deep and your bait hits the bottom or even rests on top of a log or branch or whatever, it will lay over on top of the water and you can adjust or move accordingly. I usually fish the rivers when I go night fishing and its so easy to use slip bobbers to switch you depth as needed.

Def. glow sticks. The rattle bobbers are to big most of the time, the crappie like to hold the minnows alot of the time instead of just taking off with it.
