Any chance we can get a google map fishing spot forum to post threads in? It could be a great resource where people could post their favorite fishing spots on a lake or possibly ask if anybody's fished this place or that place. I've got a starter so you can get an idea of what i'm referring to.

I'm curious if anybody here in San Antonio has tried this spot here. Not sure what it is, but it looks like it's public property since there's nothing but a bunch of businesses around it and a church right next to it. Any fish in it? (at which point people could reply with fishing reports or the author could then post his report)

or if you want to show off your favorite spot...

This is where I went this weekend, as you can see there is a kiddy pond (the small round body of water) where there's not much but a bunch of perch. I fished for catfish "underneath" the round kiddy pond and fished towards the little bay thing at the bottom and caught nothing but turtles.

I think this could be a useful tool to help people out, but then again, I guess if not enough people were interested in a google maps spot, then you could just include it in your report. But then I wouldn't know where we could go to find out about possible fishing spots. This could help get more people out into new spots that we may not have been able to find without the help of google maps smile Just an idea, you can always say no, I'm new here smile

Hey, Always, I guess most fisherpersons do not want to give such exact info about their good fishing spots. Also, I know I would not trust such info- suspect I would be sent on a wide goose chase!

If it works there it should work here, too. Just have to stir up some interest.

That's pretty much what I was thinking. Texas has a lot of lil out of the way ponds and creeks and things that some may know about that others don't. Would be a good way to share the wealth. But of course, if you don't want to share your favorite spot you don't have to participate smile

I do like LSC does, I make my own Google maps. I have the BlackBerry Storm w/ Google Maps. As long as I have coverage, I can pull up my custom map while in the middle of the lake and get right on whatever structure I've marked. I guess its the poor man's GPS.

Example:
