We finally planned a trip this weekend @ PK and were going to do the 10 miler b/c of the Golden Algae. It looked as if we might do better starting @ Rochelles as opposed to closer to the dam. It looks as if we now have to deal w/ the massive amts. of water coming down. Our trip isn't until Saturday. What are thoughts on taking this trip if they shut the gates down late this week? I really haven't fished it much after a big water release. On Whitney, it's pretty good but you need to give it a day or two to calm down after the release.

I would plan on going somewhere else given the current circumstances. Why go and fish an river with golden algae and super high water? There are lots of alternatives such as the lower mountain fork in Oklahoma or Purtis Creek lake south of Dallas just to name a couple.

The GA is bad but reports of it being further downstream don't seem to be as bad. Take the GA out of the equation and I'm just curious what the fishing is like after the high water. It sometimes is like a refresher to the water(Not sure about 30,000 CFS though). That's more like a complete cleanout. I've been to the lowerfork before and it's nice. Purtis sounds appealing also. Honestly, I just want to make my first trip to PK this year and something always happens!

You can scratch out Brazos below Granbury. River is currently flowing at 25,600 CFS.

Brazos below PK gauge station near Graford is reading around 15,000 CFS of water acording to BRA's website.

I dont think the brazos will be floatable for another couple weeks. Especially with more rain in the forcast this week. I wouldnt go out there any time soon anyway since the fishing is kind of crappy due to the GA bloom.

The brazos is probably pretty much done for kayaking for a while. We have more rain in the forcast too.

Scared of a litte water (nah). Scared of 20,000 CFS-yeah!! I looked again this morning and it's still going. I was the eternal optimist early in the week but Daveg was right about "not trying it". I'll be somewhere but not sure where yet. Purtis Creek is intriguing.
