I'm a "Fishing Buddy" this weekend here in Graham, TX for the RR retreat. This has been an awesome experience. There are 11 participants at this retreat all men recovering from various types and forms of cancer.

I have been blessed with being the fishing buddy for two men. One of them is Keith and the other Mike (our own Bass Bug). To hear these guys story and spend time with them has been a life changing experience for me and hopefully them.

Yesterday we fished the pond here on the ranch and Keith caught his first fish on a fly rod. Then after lunch we waded the Brazos below PK. Today due to the weather we will be inside tying flies with the guys until lunch. Then we'll have a wrap up and say our good byes.

We as fishermen get so focused on the thrill of the catch and overlook the true blessings that we have here on this earth. I feel so blessed and humbled to be here and give back some small part of the blessing that has been so freely given to me. I hope that each of you guys will take the time to register to volunteer as a fishing buddy and experience the warm feeeling that I have. I've made lots of new friends and look at my personal life a whole lot differently now.

And, if you're a man recovering from cancer sign up to be a participant. I believe it will lift your spirits and it's all FREE for participants.

What a great experience, Jerry! That's a bunch of very courageous guys. It was a really honor to be "fishing buddy" to them. I think we've won a few converts to fly fishing, too!

When I last talked to Keith he was cancelling a previously planned trip & was heading to Cabela's to buy a fly rod & go fishing.

Thanks Jerry & the rest of you fellas, you know who ya are.

The Reel Recovery retreat was fantastic. Spectacular scenery, good food and unparalleled fellowship. The next retreat will be this November at the Joshua Creek Ranch. Please encourage men to attend a free Reel Recovery retreat or sign up and be a fishing buddy. Thank you to everyone that helped to make the retreat possible!
