If it's the Hamby lite, don't get it. It will start to come loose, especially if you beach alot.

Taking 5 to the weigh-in occurs when opportunity meets successful execution of one's preparation.

I don't have a Hanby, but I have KeelShield. Wouldn't be without one or the other.

They don't weigh but a couple pounds. The original heavy duty one weighs about a pound more than the light weight one.

I was surprised by that. They should not affect performance.

Trim it up and get it out of the water and you never know it's there.

If one of the light weight keel protectors comes off it was not installed correctly. I have installed hundreds and I have no problems with the megaware keel guards. www.keelguard.com Most people do not install them the right way the just peel and stick and think it will hold you have to use the primer that helps it stick better and do not press it with the tool they supply.

Most of the posts I've read seem to recommend the Hamby's light over the Megaware keelguard. As they are both owned by the same company, is there really a difference between the two? Also, Megaware offers a variety of colors, but Hamby only two. Jake at Hamby's says it's because there had been problems with the different colors and now they only made them in black or dark grey. Has anyone had a problem with the different colored keelguards? Thanks!

I won't own/run a boat without a Hamby. I've had the Keel Shield,,,no comparison.
