Went out yesterday on Lewisville & caught 15 crappie & sandbass with one 19" Hybrid mixed in, in 18-24 foot of water. Lost a much larger hybrid that pulled off. I was using minnows and crappie hooks so not surprised on the big one getting away. Is anyone catching any hybrids on either the flats out from Sneaky Peats, Oakland Park, the mainlake humps, Gravel Pits or secondary hump, Petty's,or anywhere else? On another note, Brian, if you read this, call me! I would like to catch up on the bite so far.

Hey Craig,
Good to hear from you. I was out for the first time yesterday afternoon, but that was just to run the boat and make sure it is ready. I had a lot of work done on the interior and on the engine over the last month or so. I should be out in the next couple of days to try all the usual spots to see if the hybrids have moved in yet.

Welcome to thr TFF
I had fished for about 4 hrs yesterday. I found a lot of fish but just couldnt buy a bite. Ended up with 1 hybrid and 2 sandies. I was using 2inch swin baits slow rolled. Live minnows is always deadly. especially when your crappie fishing. The whites and hybrids love to hang around the crappie

Brian,
When you get a chance, call me on my cell phone 972-345-1793. I would like to catch up. I think it is just a week or 10 days away from starting. We have had a good stretch of warm weather and it should continue. Baebeley.

Craig,
Finally made it out this morning for 1st trip of the Spring. 59-62 degrees everywhere on the lake. Using threadfin and gizzards found sandbass everywhere including mid-lake humps, but only found Hybrids on secondary points in Hickory Creek branch. Caught 8 hybrids between 18-24", one 10lb catfish, and many, many sandbass. The biggest hybrid was about 7-8 lbs. All the fish were very fat and healthy and caught between 16-19 feet on long points. I never made it over Mill St. humps or Pockrus humps, but my guess is that the fish are there also. Very few other boats on the lake today.

That is funny sounding, but I too have had luck doing it.I just troll super slow with lots of line. Make sure you have a swivel on or it will surely be a mess.

Craig,
Hope you made it back from Whitney all right.
Here is the Lewisville update after my evening trip(Fri, 4/16)...Water Temp is now 69-72 all over the lake. Sandies are now active all over the lake and were showing up thick on my meter on humps and long points. Hybrids are now also thick on the main lake humps, but getting through the Sandies can be tough unless you have some bigger bluegill or large gizzard shad. I only had 5 bigger gizzards and quickly caught 5 larger Hybrid on those. Managed 3 other Hybrids on smaller baits and caught lots of large Sandies. Really excited over how healthy all the fish are this spring. I kept 2 hybrids today that had been gut hooked and both were females! Usually this time of year we are still catching only the smaller males (4-6 lbs) on the main lake humps, but these two big females around 8 lbs. I fished this evening because we may have a lot of rain Sat & Sun.
