I have no comment until officially announced by Cabela's Corporate office in Sydney, Nebraska. It is a source of discussion at the Ft. Worth store, but we don't know anymore than the rest of the community.

And, yes, I do work in the Ft. Worth Cabela's Fly Shop. It is a very nice place to work. If Allen does happen, good luck getting a job in the fly shop. Only 4 people handle Ft. Worth's work load.

Potential opening dates are September, 2011 (this from Allen City negotiations documents publicly available on the Internet).

David: If you would like to learn more than they are telling you where you work you might check the business section of Sunday's Dallas Morning News.

No matter how many times you do it, hiding in the changing rooms until after everyone goes home and they lock up does not mean you "work there" Robin. smile

According to this week's Allen American Star, they have broken ground on it. I haven't driven by the site but it's all of about 5 minutes' drive from my house. It'll be great fun to have a Cabela's around the corner, I'm sure.

I know this is utter blasphemy among Texans but I am really starting to wonder how much retail space we can absorb. Within less than 10 minutes' drive of my house I can visit 2 Lowes, 1 Home Depot, 2 Super Targets, a Dick's, no less than 3 large pet stores, and countless department, clothing, furniture, and other stores. There is a Wal-Mart under construction now at Exchange and 75, because apparently there are not yet quite enough places to buy cheap, Chinese-made junk within spitting distance of everyone's house.

It's great to have all these options and it's lovely that the tax revenue is pouring into the city... but I wonder if anyone has stopped to consider what happens if the party ever ends. Somehow, I think even raising the question gets you accused of being an evil, dope-smoking hippie bent on destroying everything good and holy ever imagined.

Okay, sorry to rant. See you at Cabelas!

OK, for that remark the moderator sentences you to three hours at the vise tying flies of your choice and an entire afternoon of fishing.... that ought to cool your jets laugh
