My FIL is giving me a two man pond boat like below:

i am planning on sticking a trolling motor on it. it hasn't been licensed in at least 10 years.

i'm looking at TPWD's stuff

am i going to have to do a full-on registration and title change (i.e. paperwork and extra money), or just pay $32 for the annual registration?

Have him get it registered, then go transfer it legally to your name. He is responsible for the current title and registration.

ok new hitch in my catch.

boat is in hand. tags expired in '98 and has sat since then. In-Laws can't find the title paperwork.

i am going to buy a new trolling motor this next couple of weeks.

as of what i'm seeing on the TPW site....

1. they will have to fill out paper work for a lost title.
2. theyget the title.
3. then they (I) pay for the new registration for this year.
4. fill out paperwork for transferring the title to me. i pay the transfer fee.
5.fill out paper work for my new trolling motor.
6. ?????
7. profit and fish
is this the correct order in y'all's eyes?

Once you get the title from your FIL, you pay 27, 11, then 32.

27 for new Title
11 for ownership transfer with renewal
32 for registration

I don't believe you have to register your trolling motor...only gas operated engines

Yeah. Trolling motors are not required to be titled at this time.

If the FIL didn't have a motor on it, it isn't required to be registered and therefore, isn't his responsibility to have it registered.

Only motorized vessels are required to be registered under 16'.

No charge for the years that the boat was setting. He'll only have to pay for a renewal.

In Texas anything that has a motor whether electric or gas other than using a paddle has to be registered and tagged,i also have a two man and have a trolling motor on it and it is registered and tagged you can take a pencil and piece of paper and hold over the serial number on the back of the boat and shade it in as you pass over the numbers and file for a title or lost title.

I THINK WERE GONNA NEED TWO WEIGHBAGS DUDE!!!!
