I'm in Brookshire, newb to TFF, and thanks to all your great info, hit Somerville, Conroe, JJ, etc. Texana looks kinda' close, wondering if there's bank fishing access for Crappie or cats? Didn't find much in the archives. Not asking for your S.S.L.s, just don't wanna burn gas.

Texana is a tough lake to fish from the bank. I haven't fished it for years, but I used to go the the state park and fish from the bank for cats. There also used to be a private park/marina on the other side from the state park, and you could fish there. The main problem is the large amount of weeds/giant salvinia and lack of bank access. Catfish is your best bet from the bank.

Go to Somerville, 2 good marinas and good shore access from multiple parks. Right now fish for cats in shallow water and whites with minnows in slightly deeper water.

thx, nonboaterwithaboat 4 your insight and info. Was hoping that Texana was not another 'boater' type lake as I haven't seen it. Wen 2 Somerville in early March, got some WB in the creeks and a couple of Crappie. Checked out Big Creek but it was too early for the 'thump' bite. Just lookin' for somewhere to enjoy the Crappie spawn while it lasts.

Thank God for fish !
