Some may not know of this event but I have been tying at it since it began nine years ago. It is being held this year on Friday April 30 and Saturday May 1 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma by the local FFF fly fishing club. There are generaly 30 to 50 tyers and we have a lot of fun. It is in a beautiful part of the state and some years it dosen't even rain. For more information go to http://okieflyfishers.org/ . The indian tacos for lunch on Friday are killer. I see where Terry and Roxanne Wilson will be doing programs on More and Bigger bluegill on Friday afternoon and one on smallmouth bass fishing on Saturday morning this year. If you like the club events, this is a very good one.

Have fun with this stuff.

Would love to be there but I'm in TPWD Area Chief training that weekend.

I was invited to go, but doubt if I will have enough money. I have a few friends that are going. Big Dale I didn't know you always tie there. It is very tempting to go, but I just don't think I can swing it.

As one of the two people (Fred Dupre is the other one) who have attended all of the SMRFEs, I can say it's a lot of fun. The atmosphere can best be described as an annual gathering of friends, both old and new.

A bonus, assuming there isn't 10 inches of rain between now and then, is the chance to fish for native Neosho strain smallmouth bass on the upper Illinois River and on Barren Fork Creek. These are some of the prettiest fish you'll ever catch -- a 14" fish is a trophy.

Hope to see you there!

Michael

Oh hey. Wow! I have always wanted to go. Any chance I could catch a ride? I'll need to start planning right now in order to pull this off.

Sadly, it looks like I will not be able to attend this year. I am running into the same problem I had with the Gulf Coast Conclave and my health this year will not allow it. As far as I am concerned this event and Texoma On The Fly are tied for first in my heart. Hopefully, I will recover enough to attend Texoma On The Fly in June.

Car pool is open...they would love that. I could of had a car pool to the Sowbug, but just couldn't afford it. I did get to go to the Toledo Bend Rendevous, and that was fun. If I went in my friend's car though, it would be packed. (especially if I brought fly tying material) I am very sorry to hear Big Dale that you won't be coming to the Smallmouth Rendevous. You have had it rough with your health, and I know you will be greatly missed there.
