Looking at getting a new Tundra, 5.7 4x4 crewmax or doublecab. Who on here has one and give me some general feedback? Been doing research online and want some first hand feedback good or bad. Thanks in advance.

My office manager just bought a black one a week ago, he's nutting himself over it. It came with standard load BF Goodrich Rugged Trail tires. Tell them you want something with a 6 ply tire or better. A standard load tire for that truck won't last long.

Yota's last forever and I loved my 4runner to death, but I've heard from two guys that have 2009 Tundra's that gas mileage was terrible. I'm talking in the 9-12 mpg range. If thats true its ridiculous. I don't think Toyota has ever made a engine with enough power that even gets decent gas mileage. I would take it for a looooooooooong test drive and look real close at the mileage if I was you.

my little 1.4L Toyota Echo would run 100mph and still got great gas mileage. 37 in the city and 39-40 on the highway. Sadly, it died last month due to Mrs. Kingwood's inability to keep it between the lines......

The 5.7 tundras have tons of power but the mpg have been one of the biggest complaints of the tundras I thought I read that the newer truck was supposed to have a 4.6 l engine that was supposed to get better gas mileage. Its a 381hp 4.6 tyhat is replacing the previous 4.7 that was an option. Its new for 2010 heres an article about it. With it being 4x4 it will be even worse than the 2wd and you dont want to know what it will get towing http://www.tundraheadquarters.com/blog/2009/02/16/new-toyota-tundra-4-6-engine/ Yota's last forever and I loved my 4runner to death, but I've heard from two guys that have 2009 Tundra's that gas mileage was terrible. i have a 2010 Tundra DC 4x4 with the BF goodrichs.. awesome truck to say the least, pulls the Skeeter like a dream, as compared to the FJ Cruiser i had before, yes, tons of power and of course the mileage sucks...but get what YOU want so that you are happy with your decision. If ya like the Dodges ( which i had 2 of before i switched to the 'Yota), Chevys, Ford etc.... go for it. 13-14 MPG average..not too much differnt with the bug hooked up either.

I have a 2008 crewmax 4x4 with the 5.7 and 66000 miles. So far it has been a dependable, strong running truck with very few minor problems, but yes the gas mileage sucks. But what do you expect with 381 horsepower and 3 tons of steel?

I just traded in my 07 Tundra on a 09 GMC. Toyota wins in power and towing ease. Chevy wins on ride quality, the Tundra rode bad to very bad depending on the road surface. Tundra better interior on the SR5 vs a Texas edition GMC. GMC better gas milage by a couple per gallon.
Overall I would rather have the ride quality over the difference in power and towing considering the load I haul. I mean on some roads the Tundra would spill coffee as it bucked over uneven pavement, on a smooth non expansion joint road the Tundra can be a acceptable ride.

Tundra has better breaks too. Then again the GMC has better options at a reasonable price. I really wanted a 10 Tundra, but just could not get over that ride.
Mind you I do not put such importance on ride quality that I would get a super underpowered F150.

The 4.6L gets 310 HP. The 5.7L is 381 HP. The 4.6L is rated at 20MPG on the highway.

I had a 2007 tundra crewmax for 3 years...IMO the best truck I have ever owned..my average MPG was 16.8 ...I had 64k miles on it and they only thing i ever did to it was replace the tires at 52k...the ride and power were outstanding. I would get the crewmax instead of the doulbe cab..there are a lot of great trucks out there..drive them all and then make your decision. good luck

Just got a 2010 Tundra 4x2 double cab and I love it. I test drove a Chevy before I bought and preferred the Toyota's ride. I also like the Toyota's interior layout much better than the Chevy.
Only towed boat once and got 11.6 on a 230 mile trip.
