Not saying bad things can't happen but the problems I've had are with potlickers and once someone stole my radio antenna off of my P/U truck.

I see many people using these par64 can setups at the Surfside jetty. What bad things can you foresee? Please enlighten us so we can avoid them.

well, the main thing is i don't these are made of stainless steel. Most likely aluminum...the sea air alone will eat aluminum like candy.

Unless it is stainless, i jus can't find where it says what sort of metal it is.

also, is the jetty you fish off of paved (like packery)?

I don't think the cans are made of aluminum. They are more likely made out of steel, and powder coated; black or chrome. As for the jetty (Surfside or Quintana), concrete slab almost all the way; not very even but you can easily walk the jetty.

just an idea, u can spray truck bed liner on over the aluminum, it will protect it from saltwater and sea air..i have done that on my fishing cart and take it to surfside jetty all the time and it works great.

I'm still using a set I bought in 1999, using them about 7 times per year @ an average of 6 hours per trip. I have one chrome and the other black. Heck, my Sears 3000 watt generator shows more saltwater corrosion that the cans themselves. Last time I checked replacement cans cost about $21.00
