Well moved from San Antonio to the Mississippi gulf coast and miss the Texas fishing.

I fished Rayburn on the way here and broke off two nice hybrids at the spillway. The first was on my ultralight (4lb test) darn near spolled me and ran to the end of the bank before I lost it. The other hit like a rock and snapped on my 12lb line like nothing.

Now to Mississippi fishing and YUCK. Fished 3 times freshwater and no even a bite. Flint creek water park near Wiggins and Paul.B Johnson State park. The weather has been tricky with east winds and one day was post front. The few bass I have seen caught are 1-2lbs.

Salt water just as bad most fishing is pier fishing and only have managed 2 croaker and a few hardheads and lost a fair size trout.

I have followed the texas reports and its killing me how fork, choke and amistad are fishing right now. I will learn the fishing with time. Though I believe one thing is to downsize my line and go back to 6lb vs 14-17lb and spinning reel vs baitcaster.

Hang in there, like you said you will learn the ropes. Fish are fish, wherever they may be. Just like here in Texas, finding them is the key. And get back here as soon as you can!

ssj3goten, never hear much about what's going on behind the dam at Rayburn. Thanks, I'll have to give it a try soon. Good Luck in Ms.

Try out Lake Okissa near Bude, MS....somewhat close to the coast.
A little further up I-55 is Calling Panther and Lake Lincoln. These are also prime bass lakes. Ross Barnett near Jackson is pretty good too, but can be tough (like any other big reservoir)

Grew up in MS. I find the bass fishing in MS easier since there is less fishing pressure there.

Paul B. Johnson is not much of a bass lake. It is a great bream lake. Don't know anything about Flint Creek.

Well I fished Lake Mike Conner on friday it was fun to finally catch some fish. The water in this lake is pretty clear and the bass (males) were bedding most were small around 10-12" caught one keeper sized and several below that. Saw one bigger "couple" male was solid 16" with the female easy 3lbs if not a tad more. Lots of bream but also a huge fish kill mostly hand sized bream with some bass and crappie thrown in. No idea but ruined a otherwise good day. Smell was bad and hard for kids to play. We will a lot of the water here over time.
Scaling down is the key for the most part.
