I've done some research and have come to the decision to try the Ac delco battery. I have been using Wal-mart but only getting 2 years out of them and now with the no warranty thing decided to try and buy a battery that i'll get a little more out of i've also tried the stoeaway battery was not impressed. I seen a lot of good topics about the Trojans and see some bad reports on them also high dollar but i just you get what you pay for. Anyone want to comment, i'm going to get one today hopefully get on the water this weekend.

A former partner of mine used the Delco batteries and had good luck out of them....they lasted a couple years longer than the Wally world batteries but were about that much more in cost...I am switching to AGM batteries which are expensive also but have heard of people getting up to seven years out of them...guess it kinda boils down to what you want to pay...I use to get about three to four years out of the Wally batteries which was fine for the price...if I can get six out of the AGM I will be happy...

It seems I have tried every battery known. The very best I have found are the interstate AGM sealed batteries. Hold up better than any Optima I have had and have a better warranty. They are a little more than a non sealed liquid filled battery but a lot less than the optima's. Mine have lasted 4 years a new record ans are still going strong.

Wait, I missed something, what no warranty thing? Wal-Mart no longer offers warranty on marine batteries. People used to buy them because they we're a decent battery and there's always a Wal-Mart around to replace them if they go bad. Now they've created themselves a whole new problem because people who get to the lake only to find they have a dead battery will still buy them at the local Wal-Mart, but return them and get their money back when they get back home and go buy a better battery with a warranty elsewhere (the 30 day return policy still applies). I'd be willing to bet within the next year they won't even carry marine batteries because of this.

I have also had decent luck with the AC Delco and they are 100% maintenance free!

The larger the battery;the longer it will last. Get the physically largest battery that fits your space.

I'll be going to an AGM battery. I just came from a large Interstate battery dealer. Unfortunately Interstate doesn't make a Marine AGM battery yet. The dealer said a few folks are using a sealed battery made for power wheel chairs with good luck. They just don't have any cranking power for the motor. I would like to have a set of Lifline AGM's but they are really high and no close dealers.
Catch em, kiss em, let em go

A lot of the battery life is dependent upon it's maintenance. Even maintenance free batteries need to be topped off. When people run them and leave them for weeks, only charging the day before hitting the water, the batteries will suffer. I believe that and the charging system itself is a big factor in the huge differences you read on forums like this one about battery life of certain brands.
I have Optima AGM, 3 of them, and the guy I bought the boat from in 2006 put them on two years before he sold it to me. They are still going strong. I have an onboard charger and I top them off after every trip,
