Dont be to dissapointed, Iv been fishing Fork since 96. Biggest fish thats ben put in myboat is 8lbs. The potential is allways there for the catch of a lifetime. Keep chunking and remember, a bad day fishing is better than a good day at work.....

You have to target big fish, ie. jigs, swimbaits, big plastics. I don't know what you throw, but shakey heads and beetle spins won't usually get you anything any size. I know of a bunch of guides that would love to have 1 ten pounder in a weeks worth of fishing. There in there and plenty of them, its just people don't fish for them. You have to sacrifice bites for size.

TJ, A 10 plus fish is a great goal to have and Fork is a one of the better lakes to produce this fish. But the first time out is a real long shot without a seasoned guide in the boat. It been out there for many many years and I'm still trying for that 10lber. I've lost her a few times but I will get one on Fork soon. Two year ago I busted an 11 on a small east texas lake in my bass buster with my wife trolling me around...So much for the 40K bass boat Hehehehe

I do think your expectations are too high, despite your saying big fish are the norm for Fork. A ten pound bass is a freak of nature. Now, the nature at Fork is they grow more freaks than most other lakes. But--when you see three, four, or more pics posted, you have to think of the thousands of boats, full of some pretty smart anglers, that did not catch a toad during those same times. It's simple mathematics. Most of us are not going to catch a ten pounder---ever. Even Aggie math should draw you to the same conclusion.
I love Fork and anticipate a ten pounder every time I'm there, but I never expect it. Enjoy the lake and all she offers. Go as often as you can, and dream about that ten pounder--you could get lucky!

All you guys give TJ a break. After all he is an AGGIE! Here are some good stats.... the last BassChamps event on 3/13 had 239 Teams that fished for 8 hours each,. That is a total of 3,824 hours fishing and ONE Ten Pounder was caught. These guys are some of the best fishermen in the country and in over 3800 hours of fishing only ONE ten pounder was brought in....... and you are wondering why you didn't catch one in 16 hours of fishing.... are you for real??? Ken

I flew in from Delaware, spent about a grand and left with one 6.5lb and some dinks....I waited 6 months for my trip, every night dreaming about double digit fish. My buddie went home with 2 fish about 2lb total......I was dissapointed a little but I have been fishing before. I know how you feel. Just do what I did...I booked for 3 days next year instead of two! I enjoyed the area so much I took home the realestate guide and have convinced my wife that East Texas is where we are headed! The people I met were so gracious and friendly that I didn't mind the fishing/ not cathcing the big one. After spending the last 30 years fishing the Northeast and Canada where 6.5 lb is a hog,Texas makes me feel like a kid on Christmas morning......the next cast could be the one! And to all the people I met in Yantis...Thanks for a great time!

They are like 7 foot tall humans.......they are out there but you dont see them very regularly

The McDonald tournament has about 4,000 people fishing for 3 days and you can usually count the double digit bass on one hand. And there are a lot of really good fishermen (even though guides aren't allowed). That should give you an idea of how rare they are.
