Im going to follow some advice from some people on here and try to single out one lake to learn the fishing on and get good at it. I think one of my problems last year was flipping from one lake to another and not learning much at all. If you have fished both of these lakes and had a choice to pick one of these two lakes to learn on, which would it be? Pat Cleburne lake or Benbrook Lake?

I have only been on Benbrook once but wasn't impressed with what I saw. I have been on Pat Ceburne several times and it is one of my favorite lakes. It doesn't have a lot of timber like other lakes but can be real fun when the lily pads grow.

My wife and I fished Benbrook yesterday from 8-12 for the first time, and had a great day, she caught 3 with the biggest being almost 3 1/2 and I had one that went 6. We will be going back for sure.

Well that was one factor that i was thinking about. I didnt know if Benbrook would be better than Pat cleburne because all of the structure you can target or not. I have been to Benbrook twice with no luck right after i bought my boat. I have caught 3 or four fish out of Cleburne thought. And it was in the vegitation over in the one slue that the boat docks are in.

Across from there and just up the bank from the ramp is a decent spot, it has a tire reef just off the bank that usually holds fish.

The best part of Pat Cleburne is if you get tired of Largemouth, go to the aerator when its on and chuck a rattletrap for sandies and stripers.

I will be in Cleburne from April 18th through the 24th and will be available after work hours, like 5:00pm to tag along of anyone has an open seat for Lake Pat Cleburne. I'll be happy to pitch in gas money too.

here's a few that I caught here in MN. They both went 6lbs 4oz and 6lbs 10oz

Didnt know you could catch stripers in Cleburne, i will have to check that out. Im probably going to make Cleburne my primary lake to learn. Its closer that Benbrook to my house and free to fish in.

benbrook is one of my favorites and is the toughest lake in texas as far as bass fishing goes (IMO). i have been fishing it since age 4 and have yet to be able to say i am a "pro" on that lake. learn to fish benbrook and you will be awesome on any other lake.

Don't be afraid to look off shore for some of the best bites at Cleburne. Beatin the banks will produce but off shore will give you alot more memories.

yeah been fishing lake pat all my life, black bass that lake is tough, lots of short fish. the damn always holds some... If the "tire reef" is in deep water it may be but I have never seen a tire reef there... If i was you I would go to robisons branch, flip the edges of the grass, or throw spinner baits or flukes... always good for a few fish...

As for stripers.... yeah there arn't any in lake pat, there are some GIANT sandies but stripers, not a viable population. I assure you they are sandies. unless they have stocked stripers lately. which I'm pretty sure they havn't. I would got blown up with people wanting to go... Now the sandies on lake pat are great, most of them oughta still be up the creek right now but once summer roles around the schooling bite there is AWESOME... I have caught limits of 16-18 inch sandies on a regular basis.
