Golden lagae is present in EVERY lake in this region per TPW, now if its toxic or not at this point on that lake I can't answer that. Try calling TPW. Best answers from them.

Thanks buddy. Ias talking to a club member the other night and it never dawned on me the feed of each one of these lakes.Maybe Granbury is having a tough time because of the steady lake level or the structure, but anyways thanks for the input.

At this point I think it still has everyone stumped. We are watching it closely on Granbury and will move our May Solo Bass tourney if it worsens. Mark

I was at PK monday, and the water is getting pretty yellow. Bug Beach and Sandy Beach had dead shad, foam, and happy gulls. Didn't see anything sick or dead but shad though. I fished PK several times in the summer and fall, and caught plenty of fish, so I'm not going to worry. Maybe it's not what it was, but it's not as bad as some people think. TP&W has week-old info on their site... http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/hab/ga/status2.phtml#brazos See ya out there, Allen

Redburro welcome to the forum! I agree with you that the blooms aren't as bad as some make it out to be. Obviously it would be best if there wasn't one but there isn't anything we can do about that. One thing I have come to understand from several experts around my area is that all lakes contain golden algae in them. What causes the problems is that normally there is a blue-green algae that blooms and they work against each other. What is happening is the blue-green is not present at this time which allows the golden algae to get out of control and become toxic. What causes this I certainly don't know but hopefully we find a way to combat it in the future.

Salt Cedar tree/bushes, cloudy days and cold water months are the enemy on the Brazos.
