Z71 , Mo, now thats a beast! Did you have a bigger leader? Regardless a big accomplishment on 8lb. Tell us about it. That lady sure is strong to be holding that fish up w/ 1 hand. 35-40?

Trent,
Gonna try to make it to Fairfield this Saturday afternoon. Will launch out of the State Park. Hope I get to fight one, never hook up with on in Freshwater lake.

Really, I think Billy had a heck of a time finding certified scales anywhere near the Fairfield area. It's the same way over at Tradinghouse near Waco. Just about have to find a major grocery store that has a certified meat scale which is what we did on the 1995 and 1997 records. If any of you want world record forms/rules, e-mail me your addresses and I'll gladly snail mail the forms/rules to you. The record slots are by line class and there's a bunch of them open. This will probably be my last post on the TFF, so take advantage of it.

Trent-- no leader , 8 lb test , about a #1 ( not 1/0 ) circle hook , split shot, dead shrimp. 12 foot of water in Mississippi sound out of Gulfport. Capt. pulled the anchor, drifted over a mile, but did not have to start the motor and give chase. Took about an hour to land. I would not recommend 8lb spinning gear for big reds. It is really hard to judge fish wieght by looking at pictures. If I remember correctly the fish only weighed 24 lbs on the boga grips. Good luck MO

Heck yeah Chad. Duck season is right around the corner. I wil be busy chasing another bow kill and late year stripers though before I get into the duck hunting full swing again. I will definitely give you and trent a hollar to see what kind of trouble we can get in to.

TPWD has stocked 1,072,000. redfish in Fairfield in the last 4 years,(2001 thru 2004) I don't think taking out 7 is going to hurt. They have put more redfish in Fairfield than hybrids in Palestine. I say congrats to all concerned on a good catch. Trent -- you've got mail. MO

19 fish caught, we only kept 7 because they could not be cpr'd, we caught bigger fish then what is on that stringer and LET THEM GO.
Once again the people who know me knows I don't hardly EVER keep fish whether it be stripers, redfish, catfish, sandies, etc...
Everyone has their right to their opinions and thats fine by me, What I will take out of all this is a little thicker skin, thanks.
PS- The last thing I want to do is clean a Redfish, (and yes we cleaned them) In my opinion it is the hardest fish I have ever cleaned.

Just a thought, but isn't fairfield like 3 thousand acres? How many stringers can be pulled out of a small lake like that before it starts to be detremental to the population?
Not attacking, I eat them all the time from the bays, just wondering?

Ok, everyone just calm down. Nobody has run me off and there's no need for tossing accusations back and forth. I blew this whole thread out of proportion I admit it and I'm sorry, so let's just get back to fishing.
I need a break, trying to get things ready for the annual Six Old Geezers fish fry September 17th on Lake Texoma at Lakeside Park in Okieland plus my job has me cornered. My e-mail is still available for the offer I made previously as to the world record forms and rules. I'll mail them out at my cost, no problem.
Put and Take lakes mean just that...TP&W continues to put allowing fishermen to take. No over-harvest worries with me, never have been. It's just a credit to the redfish rearing program TP&W has going on, so let's give it the credit it's due.
