P.K. has just gone thru another round of Golden Algae. Too early to tell how bad but a lot of dead fish have been showing up all around the lake.

I was out there a couple weeks ago - all of the fish have moved up in the backs of creeks with fresh water flowing in to escape to toxic water. We caught alot of white bass, several crappie, a couple nice largemouth, and as many carp as we wanted up to 10 lbs (carp were even biting small jigs and top water lures - because of all the bait fish stacked up back there).

I have to agree. I would take them up all the way back in any of the major creeks on the lake.

I was up there today just to check it out.......only three boats at the public ramp where I put in. Ran quite a way up the river...water yellowish and smelled pretty bad (maybe normal - 1st time for me) marked very few fish, never saw any shad flipping, mminnows working, nothing. Ran back downriver up into a couple of creeks - water much clearer, warmer, same way - very few fish marked - absolutley no sign of life. Quite a number of dead drum in the bushes.
What a shame - it's a beautiful lake.

Go to another lake my friend. Went camping there for 3 days a few weeks ago. Lots of dead fish seen, no fish caught.

Been to PK the last two weekends. Went the second weekend because I couldn't believe zeroing out the first weekend. Dumb call. Went out there last weekend and caught 1 bass way up Rock Creek. I fished spots in Caddo that always produce and not one strike. Surface temp 63 degrees, overcast, slight breeze - you could not have asked for better conditions. Marked fish but I believe they are so sluggish from the golden [censored] it is all they can do to survive right now. I hate to admit it but gstrong82183 has the answer, for now.

That breaks my heart. It seemed like the lake was just getting back on its feet.

It is a bummer. The lake was really improving. The bass were getting big and more plentyfull and when throwing blade baits to the sandies last Fall you were frequently hooking up with a striper. Last weekend a year ago my wife and I caught a good bass on almost every tree that was laying in the water in two different coves. I guess it will be Bridgeport and Hubbard Creek for me for a while.
