I was just wondering does anyone know if crappie jump out of the water when they are in the shallows spawning?

I won't say they don't, but in almost 50yrs. of fishing for them I have never seen it happen.

+1 I've seen a crappie chase shad to the point that several of them are jumping out of the water and the crappie's "V" wake kinda made it look like the he broke the surface but I've never seen one "jump".

I see it all the time...When ever I pull up to one of my brush piles, they just give up and jump in the boat. Kinda takes the fun outa fishen.

I saw it today when a big ol sow broke off at the boat. 5 mintes later she was at the top of the water trying to get that jig out of her mouth. If she would have come up once more I would have netted her. She was so big my son thought it was a bass until we saw her again.
