Need some tips and advice for dining establishments and hitting some after hours places in Port Aransas this summer while we're there.

Thanks

Its been about 3 yrs since I've been down but I always liked Castaways, they had good seafood and plenty to drink, inside or outside dining. Port A pizzaria is good if you want pizza,Crazy Cajun is good and there are plenty of others.

My two favorite places are Trout Street and Port A Brewing Company.

I've eaten several times at Crab-N-Restaurant on Tx 35 between Rockport and Aransas Pass. At the City-By-The-Sea development. A bit pricey, but good (in my opinion).

Don't waste your time at the Big Fisherman. Just fried, fried and fried.

For a great hamburger, the cafe at the Conn Brown Park Boat Ramp is wonderful. Watch the boat traffic and the birds while eating a great hamburger & a cool one.

Crab'N is one of my favorites, but I don't know that I would drive past Trout Street to get to it. Anyway, I doubt that much of the Girls Gone Wild series was filmed at either place.

Port A has been pretty hit or miss for me. One place to steer clear of is Virginia's On The Bay - the food is overpriced and a notch below average. While the food is foregettable it is a great place to have a happy hour drink or 3. Great view of the harbor from their deck.

Port Aransas Brewing Company has a great burger. Rated in the top 50 by Texas Monthly mag.

Another place worth the drive is Snoopy's Pier. Some of the best fried seafood around.

We've stayed in Port A for several years and prefer Port A Pizza, Whataburger or taking the ferry baack across and going to Las Comales in Rockport for the best seafood enchiladas on earth.
Shorty's Pig Party is the social event of the year.
Pelican's has been consistently OK.
Cancun, now on the south end of town, has been OK and has done some great breakfasts.
I don't recommend Crazy Cajun, small serving size large prices and paper plates.
Fins was pretty good for grilled or blackened fish, had an excellent key lime pie, never mind the burgers. On our most recent visits the service sucked.
We've avoided the tres-expensif places so far.

For nightlife, I 2nd Sharkeys. Also go to Salty dog. If that fails, there is always something good on the beach. Especially at night.

San Juan Taquieria is great for breakfast, lunch, or supper.
Castaways is good.
Moby Dicks is'nt bad and the kids like it.
Island Cafe if you want a plain good Cafe style breakfast.
Fins by Deep Sea Headquarters a'int bad.
If you want a watering hole hit the back porch bar at Woodys.
I'll be there this and next week enjoying all of the above.
