Texwild, Minnow seines are the way to go if you have two people, a gentle slope and don't mind getting wet. Cast nets are harder to use and can wear you out pretty quick. They also snag on the bottom, but they have their place. Traps can work in some situations. An effective alternative is the MINOMAX castable framed minnow seine. It is a patent pending design that combines the best of minnow seining and cast netting into a unique, effective and simple product that is quickly becoming the "GO TO" tool for catching your own bait. TDDNT,
We'll have to check with the company that looms the netting about colors. I'm sure they offer more than white. Do you think we should go with black? We're always looking for ways to improve the product and we appreciate your suggestions.
About offering discount pricing for TFF'ers, our online sales are through PayPal so we'll have to talk to our merchant account representative to see how to set it up. I'll bet it's something that can be done with a promo code and a special entry in the Quickbooks software we use.
We really appreciate your suggestions and we'll try to follow up on them as soon as we can.

John,
Thanks for getting a minomax to me before Easter. I had more luck using it instead of my castnet. Throwing it out and walking along the shore for quite a ways nabbed several minnows and a ton of ghost shrimp.

TxMutt,
Thanks for the order. We plan to ship out this production run on Monday. You should receive your MINOMAX by midweek.

So, to the guys on here that have ordered one of the Minomax nets. I'm wondering how you like it.
I usually fish alone from the bank and so my seine net isn't going to do me much good. Thought about a minnow trap, but this Minomax looks pretty cool - question is - does it get results?

You should make a video of it in use and post on the web.

I've had the chance to use it a couple of times and it's a lot easier than my cast net. I've only used it from the shore but it wasn't hard to get used to. I had the best luck walking along the shore with it following out in the water. I didn't have minnows with every cast but I had better results than I ever had with my cast net. I'm glad I got it.

I've watched a guy seining for minnows by himself in the Brazos river. He would anchor one end in the shore, walk out and around back to the anchored pole and then pull both ends out of the water. Very effective.

Anyone use sabiki rigs to catch minnows?
Give a man a fish, he will eat it and go back to work. Teach a man to fish and he will fish all day.

SimpleSimon, Sabiki rigs are popular in the great lakes region. They're very usefull for smelt and would probably work great for shad around here. www.EHow.com has some info on them. Type 'sabiki rig' into the search box. They're like a miniature crappie rig. There is also a product called "BaitMate" that is suposed to be a pheremone based fish attractant that is sprayed on the hooks/lures to bring them in using smell. It runs about $10.00 a bottle at major sporting goods stores. john.minomax@gmail.com
