I am working otherwise I would have been back to the marina and caught a few samples...will be out there Friday/Sat so I will have the camera ready, but hopefully won't have to use it. Will be very insterested to hear what the biologists have to say.

I was out on Ray Hubbard on Saturday and saw some sandies with this very fungus on them. I was up in Yankee Creek on the south east end back in a creek channel. There was a broken fishing pier back in there and the sandies were swimming just underneth the surface. I could easily see the fungus....they were almost completely covered. I saw about 5 fish total that had this on them. Whan struck me is that they were swimming around the area just under the surface. Youcould see the fins sticking out of the water.

I was about the only one dumb enough to fish Ray Hubbard yesterday. I was in Yankee creek and only saw one dead carp. I did see a bunch of Gar swimming back in that same section. But I didn't see any Sandies or Bass near that same pier swimming near the surface.
I'm with Evan, I would love to tell you that I stuck one fish so I could have checked it, but I got blanked again!

Caught over 200+ sandies with my Dad and Brother the last month or so in Muddy Creek. I have yet to see the fungus on 1 fish.
Also the shad are spawning in the creeks right now. You cant imagine how many huge gizzard shad I have seen in Muddy Creek this year. You will snag them at random as your reel in your lure. Have not had any luck on the hybrids in MC though. Saw a few decent ones on stringers. But nothing special. Hybrids usually follow the threadfin shad once they spawn. I dont believe the threadfin have spawned yet. I remember last year when the threadfin shad moved in. It was a solid cloud of shad running along the bank for hours. I could see and hear hundreds of seagulls going nuts above my head following the shad up the creek. It was pretty cool to see that.

Update from TPWD Biologists:
The Biologists from Ft. Worth checked 2 Marinas on Ray Hubbard today. They did not find any fish with the 'fungus'. They did find one LMB that was dead with a hook and plastic worm in its' throat and a dead Shad that looked normal.
We have been requested to save any specimens that have the fungus:
Place the fish in a plastic bag. Keep fish on wet ice in a cooler until it is picked up. Do not freeze the fish. Call the Biologists Tom or Rafe to have the fish picked up. 817-732-0761

This was reported this evening on the "Bass Fishing" forum where we are running a thread on the 'fungus' reports: I should have checked the forum before I went out today. I saw 3 dead bass in captinas cove marina one looked to 6-7 pounds. Then in Yankee creek there were 2 or 3 more back there don't remember for sure. I couldn't figure out why I was seeing so many dead bass but I guess now I know. Hope tpwd can figure out what's going on. Hopefully, someone will bag up some of these specimen, keep 'm cool, and call the Biologists to pick them up.

Was out there all day and spent some time messing around at Chandlers. I saw nothing - no fish and no diseases.
I do enjoy a good Squirt now and then.

We are going out to Ray Hubbard tomorrow afternoon (Fri. 3-9-10) We will be prepared to bag and keep cool any 'fungus' specimen we might find.

I really wish I would have read this post before I went out today. I saw a big bass in about 5" of water that looked really nasty but I chaulked it up to the spawn. I fished for her for about 45 minutes and realized that there were no males anywhere to be seen. I also found it wierd that she was that shallow. Then I noticed all of the grey fungus on her back. I just thought she was old and at the end of her life. (really I thought she was dead but had hit her with the tip of my rod and she moved.) I was wading along and noticed five or six big shad swimming at the surface with what appeared to be fungus on them. I also figured it was just the cycle of life. No I wish I would have tried to net the bass and call TPWD from were I was. If I see her back out there tomorrow that is what Im going to do, I just hope I'm not to late.

No news from TWPD, yesterday.
Yesterday, we did go 'cruising' the East side of Ray Hubbard from halfway between Terry Park and Chandlers to the North side of Hwy 66 bridge. We did not see any lame or dead fish. Although we did not cruise the shoreline or backs of 'coves'.
Did see and talk to Brodine.
We only caught 2 small White Bass. We saw more bait North of I-30 than on the South side.
